Overview of Sessions for mentors

Discover the power of MentorKey's Session feature. This guide explains how you can use the Sessions feature in your preparation and reflection of your mentoring sessions. Whether it's preparing for your sessions with key topics or reflecting on post-session insights and actionable steps, MentorKey is here to enhance your mentoring experience.

What are Sessions in MentorKey?

The Sessions feature on MentorKey provides a structured framework to support you in preparing for and reflecting on your mentoring conversations. You can use Sessions:

  1. before your mentoring sessions to prepare your agenda and key topics. For more information see Agenda and Keys (Preparation) below.
  2. after your mentoring sessions to reflect on what was discussed and capture your next steps. For more information see Insights and Actions (Reflection) below.

Logging your mentoring sessions using Sessions

Logging all your mentoring sessions using the Sessions feature is a great way to keep track of your conversations, insights and steps towards achieving your mentee's goals. Although it's highly recommended that you do so, it is entirely optional, and you have the flexibility to choose whether or not to log your sessions. It may be that your mentee creates the logs for your sessions, however you can still contribute your own agendas, topics, insights and actions to each session.

Creating a Session

Here is how you create a Session on MentorKey

Heads up: Your mentee will be able to see that a Session has been created. They will not see any of your completed Keys, Agendas or Insights unless you actively share with them.

Tip: Assigning a date (even a tentative one) to your Session will make it easier to track in MentorKey

Setting a date to your Session

Setting a date to your Session helps you to keep track of your Sessions.

Here is how you set a date to your Session

Note: Using this feature will not schedule your mentoring session or send a notification to your mentee. Its purpose is solely to assist you in tracking your sessions within MentorKey.
